Useful Windows XP HotKeys For the Non IT Savvy

HotKeys are always included in any softwares around. The power in HotKeys lies not only in the efficiency that it provides but also greatly increase the user’s satisfaction towards that program. In this post I have compiled some shortcuts that is commonly used and some that is not widely used but useful.

Widely Used

Ctrl + C - Copy

Ctrl + X - Cut

Ctrl + V - Paste

Ctrl + Z - Undo

Ctrl + Y - Un-Undo

Ctrl + A - Select all

Ctrl + Home - Goes to the top of page

Ctrl + End - Goes to the bottom of page

Ctrl + Shift + Esc - To open the Task Manager

Windows Key + L - To lock desktop

Print Screen Key - To do a print screen of full screen

Alt + Left Arrow (While in a folder or web page) - Goes into the previous page

Alt + Right Arrow(While in a folder or web page) - Goes into the forward page

Backspace (While in web page) - Goes into the previous page

Useful

Alt + Print Screen key - To do a print screen of active window

Windows Key + M or Windows Key + D - Minimize all screen to taskbar

Ctrl + Shift + End - Highlight all from the position you select to the bottom of the page

Ctrl + Shift + Home - Highlight all from the position you select to the top of the page

Backspace (While in folder) - Goes into the parent folder

    while you are writing a post, go into code tab then click on the more button and it will generate a code anything you type after that will not be shown on the main page. hope this helps.

    Hi Viv. Yeah! there are much more shortcuts available. like Ctrl + S when you are in certain software to save, Ctrl + F5 key to reload the page without needing to clear the cache, Alt + Tab to switch between windows, Shift + mouse left click to select multiple files and so on =) If you happen to use the Tab key, you might like to try the usage of Shift key + Tab too.
