How to backup/ retrieve display pictures or emotions from Windows Live Messenger?
If you do use Windows Live Messenger, you might have went through the process of losing all your display pictures (that you have spent lots of time collecting).
Do you know that you don’t have to go through that process anymore? You can actually do a backup of all your display photos, backgrounds and emoticons!
The process is rather simple. Windows Live Messenger actually stores all your images inside the folder,
C:\Documents and Settings\*Account Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\*Email Address\ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons
you just need to locate the folder and copy all the files with .dt2 extension to another folder on your desktop. Following which, right click on the file, go into properties and under the filename, replace .dt2 to .gif
You are done! You can now try opening your backed up photos using any image viewer that supports .gif files.
*Replace the “Account name” with your windows login name
*Replace the “Email Address” with your own email address.

You are the brick! Reading stuff like this written in the way like this is a great pleasure for me.
